The Scottish Karate Federation runs a two tier grading structure. The junior structure is for our younger members and a small examination on basic skills and techniques. We are looking for 100% effort and an attempt at the techniques required. We fully appreciate the age of our young members and how difficult karate can be for them. We are looking for effort and the grading is a great way to encourage the younger members.

After completion of the junior grades your child will move to the formal 'Kyu' grade system which is the same level as required by an adult member. Kyu Grading’s we are looking for a good knowledge and understanding of techniques and how they are executed.

Requirements for grading:

• Valid Scottish Karate Federation Licence
• Regular attendance at class
• Appropriate Karate Gi (suit)
• Understanding of the grade you are sitting
